Back In Black
Wind. It’s just a fact of life here in the Caribbean. That’s what makes it a sailor’s heaven. And while those same breezes can, and do, create excellent conditions for surfers, they can also bring on a kind of doldrums that makes us yearn for better days. This winter surf season started out not unlike last season, with lots of overhead swells and clean conditions. But soon after the holidays we entered a typical mid-winter weather cycle with high pressure dominating the central Atlantic and bringing around it stiff trade winds that render all but a few spots slopfests at best. During the third week of February we all got a bit of a break from that, and the first NW swell of 2011 filtered in with enough oomph to make it around the corner. Join Surf Caribe now as we present the fruits of our many talented contributing photographers from across the region.
